I don't get it. I don't know how to respond and be civil. I don't know why he continues to do this. I don't know how to get him to understand that there is no romantic interest, I just want to find a way for us to be friends and get along because of Caden.

Why would you want to hang out with him? What is there to talk about? Child support? Responsibility? Doubt he'd enjoy the conversation. I'd be polite and let him has time with Caden but there's no particular reason you should hang out with him unless you WANT to.
